TRUMP: HAMAS ISN'T THE ONLY ONE THAT NEEDS TO BE DISMANTLED AND EVICTED
The world
was surprised today by the Wall Street Journal's leak of Trump's previously
secret plan for the reconstruction of Gaza. According to the report, the US
proposal to rebuild war-torn Gaza and transform it into a luxurious, high-tech
coastal destination over the next two decades has been presented to potential
donor countries.
The
project, dubbed "Sunrise," which would cost $112 billion over the
first 10 years, was developed over the past 45 days by a team led by Jared
Kushner, President Donald Trump's son-in-law, and Middle East envoy Steve
Witkoff.
The draft
of the US proposal consists of 32 slides, including simulations of construction
on the Gaza coast, along with cost charts and roadmaps for its implementation.
According to the proposal, the United States will serve as an
"anchor" for the project's financing, contributing approximately 20%
of the reconstruction costs through grants and debt guarantees totaling nearly
$60 billion. The initiative was presented to potential donor countries, including
the Gulf States, Turkey, and Egypt, but does not specify who will finance the
remaining amount.
Dozens of
Jewish families "infiltrate" Gaza and demonstrate plans for Jewish
colonization.
The
proposed roadmap includes a phased rehabilitation: first, debris removal and
the provision of humanitarian assistance, followed by the construction of permanent
housing, educational, medical, and religious institutions, road paving, and
connecting infrastructure. Long-term projects, such as coastal development,
modern transportation, and luxury properties, are planned only in later stages.
But it's
not all a fairy tale, as the Mako-Israel report suggests. “The document states
that the plan’s implementation is contingent upon Hamas disarming and
dismantling its tunnel network. US administration officials have admitted that
without security stability, raising international funds will be difficult, and
some senior officials have even expressed doubts about the ability to implement
the vision.
The US
administration itself is skeptical about the initiative’s implementation.
Officials who reviewed the draft doubted the feasibility of achieving Hamas’s
disarmament, a prerequisite for the plan’s implementation, and also the ability
to convince wealthy nations to invest tens of billions of dollars in a region
perceived as unstable and dangerous. According to them, even if a change in
security occurs, the path to transforming the Gaza Strip into an advanced,
high-tech city is long and complex.”
Trump's
desperate race to achieve rapid breakthroughs in imposing peace across the
globe has, inevitably and repeatedly, led him to run headlong into a wall. The
concerns expressed by Trump's allies regarding the feasibility of implementing
his plan are not solely about the obstacles to securing the necessary funding,
but rather about creating a political and security environment that guarantees
any possibility of progress.
In this
sense, disarming Hamas and stripping it of any possibility of control, along
with destroying its entire tunnel infrastructure, is only part of the problem.
No one with any sense of strategy in the Middle East can ignore the sabotaging
purposes of this process in the plans of powerful political groups that have
become the indispensable backbone of Netanyahu's government.
This week,
these extremist groups within Israeli society clearly demonstrated their
intentions to derail any attempt at rebuilding Gaza and transform it into
fertile ground for promoting and expanding the Jewish settlement plan in Gaza.
Despite the sophisticated border control system between Israel and Gaza imposed
by the Israeli army after the fiasco of October 7, 2023, dozens of Israeli
Jewish families "surprisingly" managed to infiltrate Gaza, a clear
manifestation of their intentions.
The world
must understand that Netanyahu and his government will in no way be able to
repress this front; in fact, it is likely they will give it a boost. Any
attempt to quell or reduce the flames of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict must
bear in mind that dismantling and removing violent groups within Palestinian
society is only half the job. It is also necessary to dismantle and remove from
their power of influence the Jewish groups within Israeli society that promote
acts of terror in the West Bank and are behind the Greater Israel campaign from
the Jordan River to the Mediterranean.
